Boise Spring Guide 2022
Spring has sprung. The snow has melted away and warmer days lie ahead. Spring is one of our favorite times of the year to enjoy the best Boise has to offer. The outdoor lifestyle is one of the primary reasons many of our clients choose to relocate to Idaho and call it their forever home. Here are a few activities we suggest to take full advantage of the season:
Idaho Botanical Gardens
One of the first and oldest botanical gardens in Idaho, the Idaho Botanical Gardens are 15 teeming acres of natural beauty right up against the Boise foothills. The winding footpaths provide plenty of room to roam. It’s almost too much to see in one visit. Locals agree the gardens are one of Boise’s best treasures.
Idaho State Penitentiary
Located right next to the Botanical Gardens, the Idaho State Penitentiary is a dream for any history aficionado. The historical site was a functional prison from 1872 to 1973 and boasts over 100 years of unique Idaho history. With the option for guided and unguided tours, you will be fascinated by the well-preserved and informative experience.
Zoo Boise
Tucked inside the beautiful Julia Davis Park, Zoo Boise offers a wide array of animal exhibits. Home to over 300 animals, Zoo Boise connects visitors with the animals to inspire the community in the conservation of wildlife. The zoo also offers an African boat ride, a kid’s farm, and a butterfly area. This is the perfect activity for families with curious kiddos.
Hike Stack Rock
The Stack Rock trail is the perfect day hike right outside of Boise. The trailhead is located about 13 miles up Bogus Basin Road (look for a gravel pull-out on your left), the Stack Rock trail winds through a shaded forest of pine trees. The trail leads to Stack Rock, an imposing granite tower with amazing 360-degree views of the Treasure Valley, Horseshoe Bend, and beyond.
Explore Boise River Greenbelt
The Boise River Greenbelt is a 25-mile tree-lined pathway that follows the Boise River through the heart of the city and several of Boise’s riverside parks. There are plenty of activities to choose from along the Greenbelt. You can rent stand-up paddleboards or kayaks at Idaho River Sports and enjoy Quinn’s Pond, or spend time at the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial reflecting on quotes from humanity’s brightest minds. If you rent a bike, you might be able to traverse the entire Greenbelt in one day and see much of what the City of Trees has to offer.
The Boise Farmers Market
The Boise Farmers Market is open every Saturday starting in April. Located at 1500 Shoreline Drive, you will find fresh local seasonal vegetables and fruit, many types of locally raised protein, bread and pastries, honey, jams and sauces, fresh-roasted coffee, and a delicious selection of ready-to-eat foods. They always have the best of what is local and in season!
Hot Springs in Idaho City
The Springs in Idaho City offers a luxurious exclusive retreat 37 miles from Boise. The natural geothermal hot springs are one of the best amenities Idaho has to offer and are sure to provide a relaxing experience. Guests of the Springs enjoy poolside service for food, beer, and wine, and private tubs are available by the hour. Visits are by reservation only so make sure to book your trip in advance.
