McCall Activities Guide

McCall is a great place to spend time with your family any season of the year. The mountain resort town is one of the hottest destinations for anyone looking for the best of Idaho’s outdoorsy lifestyle.

Outdoor Recreation

During the summer months, McCall offers plenty to do in the great outdoors. You can go paddle-boarding on Payette Lake, whitewater rafting on the Payette River, or hike the Payette National Forest.

If you like to hit the snow, the McCall area is the perfect place to find what you’re looking for. With three ski resorts -- Tamarack Resort, Little Ski Hill, and Brundage Mountain -- close to town, you can find whatever terrain you’re looking for.

Downtown McCall

Any trip to the area should include a visit to downtown McCall. The heart of the city welcomes first-time arrivals and provides a place for the community to gather. The downtown has shops, restaurants, and entertainment. If you have time, make sure to stop by the always popular Ice Cream Alley or lace up the skates for ice skating at the Manchester Ice Center.

Burgdorf Hot Springs

If you’re looking to relax, the Burgdorf Hot Springs is a perfect mountain getaway. The rustic retreat is located 32 miles north of McCall and offers historic cabins for rent. Burgdorf has limited access during the winter months so we suggest you make a reservation before you go.

Ponderosa State Park

Right outside downtown McCall, Ponderosa State Park is an outdoor playground with spectacular views of the lake. Visitors can hike, picnic, cycle, mountain bike, play volleyball and horseshoes, swim, fish, and watch for wildlife. When it snows, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are popular activities. For overnight stays, the park offers campsites and cabins.

Shore Lodge

On the shores of the Payette sits the upscale Shore Lodge. Walking distance from downtown McCall, the hotel features special amenities with three dining locations, a full-service salon and spa, and shuttles to local ski resorts. If you stay during the summer you have access to water and boat rentals right outside your room.
